Brandy is a distillate of mainly almonds. Developed in the late 18th century during the French occupation. The recipe is secret, especially since van Wees is the only one who still makes the authentic brandy. And we want to keep it that way. Brandy itself is consumed by few people, often with a little sugar, but it is mainly used for canning fruits. You don’t taste the brandy in the fruits because its function lies primarily in its preservation and enhancing the flavors.
Brandy is an almost fully disappeared product on the Dutch market, but essential for preserving fruit.
